First Baptist Church is partnering with Welcome Corps to sponsor refugee families to the U.S. and specifically in our Silver Spring community. We have a dedicated team of volunteers from FBC spearheading this new ministry. The volunteers are responsible for helping the family find housing, assisting with healthcare, education and employment. Welcome Corps is a program of the U.S. Department of State that empowers everyday Americans to welcome refugees arriving through the U.S. Refugee Admissions Program.
The personnel committee is responsible for assisting the church in matters related to the paid church staff. Duties include: assisting the pastor in administering personnel matters; and interpreting the needs of the church staff to the congregation. If you are interested please contact Linda Kreitlow.
The Ordinance Committee prepares communion on the first Sunday of each month and for a few other special services. Preparation includes filling the communion cups, preparing the bread, and cleaning up. If you would like to serve on this committee please let us know.

If you do love to sing you should join the Sanctuary Choir. Enjoy the beautiful sounds of harmony and make the Sunday Service and holiday services special. It's a time of fun and fellowship.

Child care at First Baptist Church of Silver Spring goes back to our very beginning and has been a part of our ministry ever since our founding. The picture to the left is a Sunday School class at First Baptist Church of Silver Spring in 1957,
Sunday School is still an important part of our mission today. Here in our brand new building we've dedicated a large section of the space to classrooms to continue helping our children become the very best people they can be.
In addition to our weekly Bible Study classes there are many other activities available to your children at First Baptist Church of Silver Spring. For example, this summer we're offering Vacation Bible School from August 5th to the 9th. The sessions will begin at 9am and end at 12 noon. If you would like to enroll your children in Sunday School or in this year's Vacation Bible School please contact the church office.
Additionally, if you would like to work with the education ministry and mentor and teach our children please also contact the Church office to find out how you can get involved with this ministry.
Feeding the hungry members of our community is another mission of First Baptist Church of Silver Spring. The Food Closet is open each Saturday from 10am to 12n. It is staffed by volunteer adults and mature young people. Typically there are four teams and each team serves once every four weeks.
There are also opportunities to help with the food closet during the week including; stocking shelves, picking up food donations from various schools in the county, picking up bakery donations, assisting with the pick up and unloading of the supplies.
If you are interested in serving on this very important mission please contact Jim Reed, Food Closet Coordinator, through the church office.
Eliberto and Molly are endorsed to serve as global servants in El Salvador with IM partner Mision Vida y Paz (MVP), or Mission Life and Peace. They share a strong commitment to peace building and social transformation through the power of the gospel. MVP is an educational program based on biblical values to be used in public schools in El Salvador. The couple will build the MVP program by educating and training Christian volunteers who are committed to serve as agents of transformation in their communities. These volunteers will work with Eliberto and Molly to deploy the MVP curriculum. They seek to see churches living out their calling to bring God's peace to children, families and communities.
You can help support their mission by making a gift by credit card or to set up monthly giving. Click the button below to connect to Eliberto and Molly Juarez by emailing them at juarez@internationalministries.org or by clicking the button below.
